5 Hot New Video Apps for Android

Can’t resist watching and commenting on videos with your friends or toying with your camera in hope of shooting a new experimental short movie? Here are 5 new Android video apps straight from the oven you should check out.

5 Hot New Video Apps for Android

1. iCouchapp

While iOS users have been enjoying the beauty of community video watching for a year, iCouchapp has finally released the Android version on March, the 10th. This social video app has three main features:
  • Share and watch various videos; post on them on your timeline and feature them in a “Hall of Fame”. You can share video via Youtube app or paste video url directly on the platform to share it. Other popular platforms like Vimeo and DailyMotion are said to be added soon.
  • Create memes, polls and quizzes based on your favorite shows and videos. The app allows taking screenshots and converting them into fun content later on. Share it on your timeline and comment on other entries. iCouchapp keeps a chart of the most active app users and rewards them with daily prizes, say a free ride from Uber.
  • Discuss your favorite shows with other fans in special chatrooms dedicated to each show. Or create a private once with your friends. So far, the selection of TV shows is pretty limited, however.

2. LiveRing

LiveRing – a popular social video exchange app has launched its Android version on March 17th. With this app you can shoot short videos (up to 1 min long by default), tag your friends and share your daily joys together in real time. You can invite as many friends as you want for a livestream video session and the central feature is the tag that will tell everyone what’s exactly going on right now.
“Human communication is about action and reaction, and only live video can create that kind of presence using technology” – says Daniel Holmstrom, the creator of the app.

3. YouTube Downloader for Android

We’ve all been waiting for it, right ‘cause some videos are just too good to be watched just once when you have Wi-Fi. Youtube Downloader for Android allows you to get any video you like in multiple formats and any preferred resolution. The app works pretty smooth and fast, plus allows downloading multiple videos at a time.

4. Youtube Kids

Google and Youtube finally agreed that they need to filter video content more strictly and released YouTube Kids – a video app from ifrog.eu, featuring a selection of age-appropriate videos and packed with relevant content and channels’ recommendations. Design was significantly simplified to make it more navigable for the curious little minds.
As a parent you can set a timer within the app, so that your kids know when it’s time to stop watching and disable search options if you feel like to. However it’s heavily-filtered and will not display anything in case your kid types something like “sex”.

5. Camio

Camio offers to turn your device into a web-connected surveillance camera. Watch what your pets have been up to while you are at work, keep an eye on your home security while you are vacationing, or merely keep in touch with your loved ones while you are away.

Just get an account with them, download the app and you are ready to use it. The app captions all the motions on video and can store up to 30 days of video on the cloud, which you can watch anytime from anywhere. Camio is free to use, however you need to pay if you’d like to connect more than one device at a time.
