The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 is coming your way in September with rotating touch bezel and optional LTE

It's only been a few months since Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch Active, but it's time for a new and improved version of that wearable. The predictably named Galaxy Watch Active2 is now official, but you won't be able to pre-order for another month. It's got the compact form factor of the Watch Active, but there's a new rotating touch bezel and a few different body style options.

As with most of Samsung's smartwatches, the Watch Active2 comes in two different sizes.

Fossil reveals fifth-gen smartwatches with Wear 3100 CPU and extended battery mode

Fossil Group is one of the last manufacturers left keeping Wear OS afloat. Last year's Fossil Sport was perhaps the best Wear OS smartwatch yet, though the promised battery life improvements in the Wear 3100 chip still haven't materialized. Fossil is now bringing the Sport's features to its other watches, and adding a few more improvements on top.

The new fifth-gen Fossil Q smartwatches have nearly every bell and whistle that Wear OS can support, except for LTE connectivity (though that would make the watches much larger).

Google and Arm are developing a new technology to mitigate against memory vulnerabilities in Android

According to Google, more than half of the highest priority security vulnerabilities faced by Android 9 Pie have been due to memory safety bugs. New features in Android Q such as IntSan instrumentation are designed to mitigate against such problems, but there's only so much that can be achieved by software alone. Google has therefore teamed up with chip-maker Arm to develop a new hardware feature called the memory tagging extension (MTE).

2021 iPhone to Feature Both Face ID and In-Display Touch ID [Report]

Apple's 2021 iPhone will purportedly feature both Face ID and in-display Touch ID, according to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The prediction is based on fingerprint on display (FOD) patents filed by Apple and the continued use of the technology in Android smartphones.

In terms of technology, we predict that four critical technical issues of FOD will significantly improve in 12–18 months, including module thickness, sensing area, power consumption, and lamination yield rate. Therefore, we believe that Apple will launch the new iPhone equipped with both Face ID and FOD to enhance security and convenience thanks to the multi-biometrics.
