Revamped Apple Maps Now Available in Texas, Louisiana, and Southern Mississippi

Last year, Apple announced plans to rebuild its Maps app with its own first-party data. The overall look and feel of Apple Maps is mostly the same, but zooming and panning reveals more details like grass, trees, sports fields, and parking lots. Apple is also focused on making search results more relevant.

The improvements first rolled out in Northern California in July 2018, followed by Hawaii and Southern California in November 2018, and Arizona, New Mexico, and the Las Vegas metropolitan area in April 2019.

Now, the updated data is available across Texas, Louisiana, and the southern half of Mississippi, as Apple continues its pattern of rolling out the updated maps in adjacent continental U.S. states. Zooming into these regions displays more details and greenery in Apple Maps across the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

At WWDC 2019, Apple said the updated maps will roll out to the entire United States by the end of the year, followed by additional countries in 2020.

Pixel C gets mysterious OTA update from beyond the grave

Google's last Android tablet, the Pixel C, reached end-of-life back this June. Device owners can't rely on receiving regular security updates anymore, making the device more and more dangerous in daily use. Google doesn't appear to be completely done with the Pixel C, though. Some people have received an OTA, but it's not exactly clear what has changed.

Judging from the minor bump in version number (OPM8.190605.003 to .005), not too much is going on with the 8.1MB big update.

Apple Releases New USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter With Support for HDMI 2.0, HDR10, Dolby Vision

Apple has released a new USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adaptor with support for HDMI 2.0, HDR10, and Dolby Vision.

Model A2119 is the newest model of this adapter. It supports HDMI 2.0 at these resolutions and refresh rates when used with macOS Mojave 10.14.6 or later or iOS 12.4 or later. It also supports HDR video in HDR10 and Dolby Vision formats when connected to a compatible playback device and display, TV, or projector.

● Up to 1080p at 60Hz
● 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz
● 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz with these devices:
