The International Ultraviolet Association believes that based on existing evidence, UV light, specifically between 200-280nm (UVC or the germicidal range), can kill COVID-19. This is based on tests that confirm UVC inactivates (aka, 'kills') at least two other coronaviruses that are near-relatives of the COVID-19 virus: 1) SARS-CoV-1 and 2) MERS-CoV. The IUVA has already assembled a team to develop guidance for the use of UV technology as a COVID-19 disinfection measure.
