Oh, So We're Doing This Section 230 Bullshit Again

Republicans in the Senate unveiled the party’s latest piece of political theater attacking Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act on Tuesday—the latest in a string of GOP proposals that are either legal gibberish or dead on arrival so long as Democrats have strong footing in at least one chamber of Congress.

What's the Best Electric Toothbrush?

Between movies, gaming, and all the random stuff on social media that brings my perspective on humanity into constant question, I’ve spent a lot more time entertaining myself recently, and that naturally means more snacks…

Australia Opens Investigation Into Mobile App Stores

Australia's Competition and Consumer Commission has announced an investigation into mobile app stores including Apple's App Store.

The ACCC will be examining the experiences of Australian consumers, developers, suppliers and others in a new report scrutinising mobile app stores. Issues to be examined include the use and sharing of data by apps, the extent of competition between Google and Apple’s app stores, and whether more pricing transparency is needed in Australia’s mobile apps market.

Consumers are invited to share their experiences with buying and using apps through a short survey. The ACCC has also released an issues paper seeking views and feedback from app developers and suppliers.

Initial Production of 5G iPhones to Begin in Mid-September [Report]

Apple will begin initial production of its 5G iPhones in mid-September, a delay of weeks instead of months, reports Nikkei.

Manufacturing will begin on a limited scale, with mass production expected to begin gradually between the end of September and early October. This timetable is still behind Apple's usual schedule over the past few years, when mass production began in August for lineups released in September, but it is a large improvement compared with the situation a few months ago, two sources familiar with the matter said.

"We've managed to shorten the delay significantly and we are not stopping here," said another supply chain executive. "The final assembly for some models is still going to be early October, but we are working to keep moving the production as early as possible."
