Microsoft Confirms Discussions to Acquire TikTok in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand

Microsoft has confirmed that it's in discussions to acquire the TikTok service in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The U.S. government has expressed concerns that the TikTok app is feeding data directly to the Chinese Communist Party and President Trump has suggested an executive order could be used to take action against it. India has already banned the app alongside another 58 mobile apps from China.

In a post today, Microsoft said discussions with TikTok owner ByteDance could be complete by September 15.
