The mysterious spot on the edge of the iPhone 12 is a 5G mmWave antenna window.The spot was present in iPhone 12 leaks and some suggested it could be a smart connector. In reality, The Verge has confirmed that it is for the 5G antenna.
Each new iPhone features this conspicuous groove along the right edge. It’s a special window for mmWave signals, and it appears to be designed so users can visibly see it and perhaps avoid holding it there for maximum signal strength.
