iPhone 11/Pro/Max Accounted for 69% of U.S. iPhone Sales in 4Q19 [Chart]

The iPhone 11 accounted for 39% of U.S. iPhone sales in fourth quarter of 2019, according to a new CIRP report. Combined with the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, Apple's latest generation smartphones accounted for 69% of iPhones sales in the quarter.

“The latest iPhone models represent over two-thirds of sales in the quarter,” said Josh Lowitz, CIRP Partner and Co-Founder. “And, iPhone 11 accounted for over half of that share, with 39% of total sales. It’s now the leading model in the product line. At the same time, iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max each grabbed meaningful share, both at 15%. The iPhone XR, released in 2018, ushered in a new size profile, and remains popular at its reduced price. A year ago, iPhone XR dominated the quarter like iPhone 11 this year. The then-new iPhone XS and XS Max had a somewhat smaller combined share compared to the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max in the most recent quarter.”

Police Scotland Demo 'Cyber Kiosks' That Use Cellebrite Tech to Extract Data From iPhones [Video]

Police Scotland has announced plans to deploy forty one Cyber Kiosks that use technology from Cellebrite to extract data from locked smartphones.

Cyber kiosks are desktop computers, which will be located in police stations across local policing divisions. The technology allows specially trained officers to triage mobile devices to determine if they contain information which may be of value to a police investigation or incident. This will allow lines of enquiry to be progressed at a much earlier stage and devices that are not relevant to an investigation to be returned quicker.

“Increases in the involvement of digital devices in investigations and the ever-expanding capabilities of these devices mean that demand on digital forensic examinations is higher than ever," says Deputy Chief Constable Malcolm Graham. "Current limitations however, mean the devices of victims, witnesses and suspects can be taken for months at a time, even if it later transpires that there is no worthwhile evidence on them. By quickly identifying devices which do and do not contain evidence, we can minimise the intrusion on people’s lives and provide a better service to the public."

Apple Launching New Internal Activity Challenge for Employees

Starting in February, Apple is hosting its annual company wide fitness challenge for all of its employees, tasking them with closing all three Apple Watch Activity rings every day of the month.

Employees who successfully finish the challenge will be rewarded with a t-shirt that says "2020" in a logo with ‌Apple Watch‌ Activity-style rings, as shared by an Apple employee.

The employees who complete the challenge every day will earn a "gold" ranking and will receive a gold pin along with their t-shirt, and there are also silver and bronze rewards accompanied by silver and bronze pins.

Apple in 2018 and 2019 hosted similar challenges offering employees Activity-themed ‌Apple Watch‌ bands as prizes.

Apple's February fitness challenge is internal only and is limited to Apple employees, but Apple also regularly hosts public fitness challenges, though these do not come with physical rewards.
